Silambarasan can heave a sigh of relief, his Silambattam has taken a good opening on day one of its release (Dec 18)!
The trade says it is a “ low- class mass masala” which will work big time in smaller stations. What is going in favour of the film is hit ‘dapan-kuthu’ songs composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and the fantastic action scenes choreographed by Kanal Kannan. The second half of the film, the climax seems to be the plus point of the film.
Simbu’s ode to Ajit has also been appreciated by ‘Thalai’ fans. The actor’sBilla show in the climax and punchline dialogues are getting the maximum claps. Added to that the star by inviting Ajit and family for a special screening at Four Frames, has also been appreciated by his fans.
In Chennai city, the film has taken 92 percent opening in 12 screens, which is fantastic. A Hindi screening big capacity theatre like Melody, has reported three of the four shows houseful.
At Sathyam Cinemas, Simbu Cine Arts the distributors of the film managed to get the big screen where Surya’s Vaaranam Aayiram was running and reported 100 percent collections on day one.
In Coimbatore area the film has taken 90 percent opening from 38 screens, while in Madurai city in three screens it has done 100 percent on the opening day.
When contacted Simbu said: “ The response from the audiences has been fantastic. It is my biggest hit since Manmathan. Everybody seems to be enjoying this rollicking entertainer. I am extremely happy and relieved”. So Simbu, where is the party tonight?
