Silambaatam reaching 100 days.

Posted by Hariharan Naidu

Thanks For coming up with the truth.

Nowadays, when most movies find it difficult to complete even 30 days in theatres, Simbu’s Silambattam has successfully run for 95 days and is marching towards its century. Released on December 19, 2008, the movie has been enthralling audiences for the last three months and as we predicted, many people are this film as a favourite weekend getaway! And why not?! The film has everything that people look for in a Simbu film – right from funky and attractive music, incredible dance steps, beautiful heroines (Sana Khan and Sneha), comedy, Simbuisms, and a good storyline to meld these components into an interesting film.

Silambattam has enriched its distributors. When we contacted a film distributor in Chennai to see how the film is doing, he said he is pleasantly surprised to see the film still attracting huge crowds on weekends even after 90 days. He added that such a pot pourri of entertainment is the order of the day and expressed his wish that film-makers come up with more such entertaining movies. He also said that a Simbu film seems to have a minimum guarantee on the sum invested!

Film pundits view Silambattam as Simbu’s big leap towards perfection, though many would disagree, holding Manmathan in higher regard. But it looks like film makers are right; in Silambattam, Simbu seems to have improved in all departments; the actor’s conscious efforts to give something different and better to the audience is visible in every single frame, right from dance and fight sequences to his acting style. Now, as icing on the cake, he has also got an opportunity to act in Gautham Menon’s Vinnathandi Varuvaaya which will show him in a completely new light; we are sure he will make the best use of this opportunity.

We congratulate this young actor on his Silambaatam victory and wish him all the best.
